Learn how to start a Google Analytics account and then add the required information to your Joomla! CMS to track your visitors using Google Analytics.
If you already have a Google Analytics Account and have previously setup website for tracking then feel free to skip this section and move on down to adding your tracking code to Joomla!
Start by going to the Google Business Services page. Click on the Analytics link which will take you to the Google Analytics Page .
Now you need to sign up for a Google account or login with your existing Google account. Once you've signed up for Google and have verified your account you should go to here and follow the instructions for setting up your first Google Analytics website.
You will be prompted to enter your website domain name, account name (website/business name), and your time zone. Click Continue . You will now be prompted to enter your name, phone, and location. Click Continue . You now need to accept the Google Terms of Service, simple click the box next to YES, and click Create New Account .
You will now be taken to a page with the Tracking Code that you need to place into your website so that Google Analytics can collect and track your visitor data. Copy the code under the "New Tracking Code" tab so that you can use it in the next section.

Adding your brand new Google Analytics tracking code to your Joomla! installation is pretty easy. Don't worry about any of those extensions or modules that claim to do this for you; this is the best way to do it so that you know you're tracking every visitor and page.

If your file looks like the above then click Save at the top right and you're done.
If you use multiple templates or you change templates then you will need to add the Google Analytics Tracking Code to each and every template you use.
